Mean People Suck
I am sure you have all seen the saying, "Mean People Suck," printed on a shirt or bumper sticker. While it's true that dealing with mean people can be difficult there are many ways using proven methods to deal successfully with mean people. This article is not about those techniques. Eventually with the advancement of awareness we may not have to deal with mean people. The way this advanced awareness would work is simple. As a collective we can take the motivation for being mean away. People only continue to behave in a way that gets results. The reason for being mean is quite simple, it frankly gets results. No one likes to deal with someone mean so we capitulate to their demands. If a man is cheating on his wife and the mistress leaves him, he will go looking else where. When every female refuses him, he will eventually give up looking for a new mistress. The return on the investment for looking diminishes when the output of energy required for looking becomes greater than the reward. Once the cheater realizes that he has no mark left to go after, the gig is up. In this scenario the cheating would stop when all of the woman stopped playing the game of mistress with the philandering husband. In life we need to stop making excuses for mean people. We need to stop being apologetic for them. We need to stop saying things like, "Oh they must be having a bad day." When someone is being mean we can just call them on it. No excuses, no glossed over apology, let's face it, mean is mean why reward it? Until we stand up as a collective whole, mean people will continue to go looking for someone new who will take it. Without fuel a fire dies. It's time we took the reward fuel away from mean people. |
